[intro]
Who: Anyone
Where: Lobby, heading out to the city later + network
When: April 13
ONE.
Speciality chosen, he took his first step outside his room into a new world. Clutching the pendant in one fist and phone in the other, this newly inducted Ragamuffin peered around before venturing into the lobby. It seemed the remains of some kind of party still lingered. A stray, deflating balloon. An overlooked streamer. What a shame - he would have liked a party.
Not even a few minutes have passed before the phone buzzed again. He glanced at the screen. Missions already, huh? And a greeting from their over-exuberant dorm mother. His mouth twitched at some of the listings then he pocketed the device. He'd address them later. First he needed to get his bearings. Maybe acquaint himself with the other thieves here.
Time to explore.
(ooc: He'll go poking around each of the rooms in the dorms, so feel free to have him walk in on your character wherever.)
TWO.
There was a lot of potential in this city. He could tell that right off the bat. It wasn't quite Tokyo, nor was it New York, but had all the familiarity of either city. For now, he contented himself with strolling down one of the main streets and took in all the various shop fronts and businesses, committing what he could to memory. Would he have to attend a school, he wondered? He was in his second-last year of high school and doubted he would learn more than he could from self-study anyway at this point. He'd definitely need to find work of some kind. He couldn't envision himself subsisting on that bland cafeteria food back at the dormitory for his entire stay.
What he ought to focus on for now, though, was completing at least one of the missions. Something easy to start. He pulled out the phone and considered his options. 'Steal the sea', 'steal a voice', 'steal a heart', 'steal the moon'... He smirked at that latter one. Ahh, if only.
Another problem: they had to be completed with someone else. He was used to working alone (well, with Jii) and he wasn't sure about the skill level of the others here. Oh well - the only way to find out was to ask!

DOVE: got a few ideas on what to steal, hit me up if you need a partner
DOVE: also if someone needs a hacker, I'm your guy

two
[that's when he'd tend to drag his feet. and although phantom thievery is nothing new to this guy, his own moral code prevented him from getting out there and stealing just anything]
[and so! when he checks the notifications on his phone to see a message from an unfamiliar person, soliciting partners for a heist, he can't help but let out an impressed noise and shoot back something a bit wry]
purrsona: Someone sure is eager to get started.
no subject
DOVE: takes more time than you think to plan and steal something
DOVE: what I have in mind isn't too complicated though
no subject
[at his phone ofc]
purrsona: Color me curious.
purrsona: Which I always imagined to be a nice shade of red.
no subject
DOVE: I prefer blue myself ;)
DOVE: anyway, I figure if the missions aren't meant to be completely literal then stealing something like the sea shouldn't be too hard
no subject
purrsona: Too bad the name Blue is already taken.
purrsona: And what did you have in mind?
purrsona: Or is this one of those, "I'm not telling you unless you agree to work with me" kind of things.
no subject
DOVE: well I don't MIND saying it here
DOVE: but one of the missions is to 'steal an idea' right?
DOVE: and that involves a hacker
DOVE: I'm a competitive guy, I wanna complete at least one task before I go out giving freebies to people ;P
[ He's not sure whether he's interpreting any of this right, but best to play his cards close for now, yes? ]
no subject
purrsona: Oh.
purrsona: Nah.
purrsona: I'm way too lazy to even lift heist ideas from other people.
purrsona: Your secrets are safe with me.
1/2
DOVE: well I'm gonna message you privately anyway
DOVE: just in case the others aren't so lazy~
2/2 PRIVATE
DOVE: or a recording of someone's singing
DOVE: wouldn't it be cool if every copy of a song got stolen? XD
DOVE: that's probably too much work with the time and resources we currently have though
DOVE: what's your specialisation btw?
PRIVATE
purrsona: You really did think this through.
[he's impressed despite himself, but he also has some ground rules]
purrsona: I don't steal from people who don't deserve it.
purrsona: Unless it's something harmless.
purrsona: And I chose Thief, since it seemed pretty straightforward.
PRIVATE
DOVE: I'm hurt you thought otherwise ;A;
DOVE: but those would've been my ground rules too
DOVE: bonus points if it was stolen from someone else in the first place! >D
DOVE: also I'm putting my foot down on anyone getting seriously hurt or killed
DOVE: stealing lives is a big no
PRIVATE
purrsona: A criminal after my own heart.
purrsona: All right; count me in.
PRIVATE
DOVE: awesome
DOVE: we should understand each other's skills first. what part of thieving are you particularly good at?
DOVE: like the sneaking in, or the planning etc.
DOVE: I planned and executed everything by myself back home
PRIVATE 1/2
PRIVATE
[unfortunately, Akira isn't nearly as willing to be as up front and honest]
purrsona: Oh, I'm an amateur.
purrsona: A total newb.
purrsona: So it sounds like I should be calling you senpai.
PRIVATE
DOVE: reaaally
DOVE: you sounded so confident a moment ago
DOVE: ah whatever, if you don't want to tell me that's fine
DOVE: but you'd better speak up if something bothers you!
DOVE: you're good with the painting idea?
PRIVATE
purrsona: Well, I did agree to come here willingly.
purrsona: Didn't we all?
purrsona: Complaining about being a novice won't get me anywhere.
purrsona: And that depends on the painting.
purrsona: Got one in mind?
PRIVATE
DOVE: wasn't too hard to find paintings of the sea
DOVE: but if we wanna target people who deserve to get stolen from then I can start looking into art dealers and appraisers as well
DOVE: I'm sure I can turn up a name we're both happy with
PRIVATE
purrsona: Then I'll leave the research to you.
purrsona: But I'm serious about only taking from those who deserve it.
purrsona: So any old painting of the sea won't do.
PRIVATE
DOVE: give me a few days and I'll compile a list we can go over together
DOVE: then we can start planning how to steal it \(^o^)/
[ What kind of guy gets excited about stealing? This one, apparently. ]
PRIVATE
[. . .]
[EH]
[he'd be lying if he said he wasn't curious as to what the guy might come up with]
purrsona: You seem pretty excited.
purrsona: Are you used to this kind of thing?
PRIVATE
DOVE: I'll have you know that I'm famous in Japan, if not around the world
DOVE: They weren't just heists they were shows, and I had tons of fans
[ Main reason he's being so open about this is because...there's not much point hiding that you're a thief. In a thieves guild.
No-one will ever know about his civilian life if he can help it!! ]
PRIVATE
[. . . he can't help but be a little amused by how this guy puts it, too. it reminds him a bit of Ryuji, back during the Phantom Thieves' height of popularity. even though that had ended in complete and utter disaster]
purrsona: Oooh, so I'm talking to a celebrity.
purrsona: Can I get your autograph?
purrsona: I want to frame it.
[HE'S BEING DRY]
PRIVATE
DOVE: sure, just prostrate yourself and call me Dove-sama :P
DOVE: I also accept food offerings
PRIVATE
purrsona: Nevermind.
purrsona: That sounds like too much work.
PRIVATE
DOVE: what kind of stuff did YOU go after back home btw?
[ Red, you're getting a playing card with his doodle on it when they meet up. ]
PRIVATE
purrsona: . . . I aim to make good grades in school?
purrsona: And I'm pretty good at collecting part-time jobs.
[he's gonna play stupid until the cows come home]
PRIVATE
DOVE: 'I don't steal from people who don't deserve it'
DOVE: you said that earlier
DOVE: sooooo~
PRIVATE
purrsona: Because I don't.
purrsona: Or rather, don't want to.
PRIVATE
DOVE: well, what are you good at?
DOVE: I don't mean stealing, I mean in general
PRIVATE
purrsona: I'm good at customer service.
purrsona: I craft tools and wooden figures in my spare time.
purrsona: And I suck at math but I kick ass in literature.
PRIVATE
DOVE: exactly my type~
PRIVATE
purrsona: By the way, are you officially going by "Dove?"
PRIVATE
DOVE: I like the imagery of it~
one.
Flopped half out of the bed? How did he not even properly get into his own bed? Maybe he was mugged...
Is he okay....
He doesn't seem to immediately stir when Kaito opens the door, either.]
no subject
But, uh, this guy seems to be hanging on by the skin of his torso. Half-in, half-out (make up your mind, dude!).
Natural curiosity - and concern - prompts him to inch inside and...poke the guy's shoulder. ]
Uh... Are you okay?
no subject
... Did I get kidnapped again...?
[Why is there a stranger hanging over him!!]
no subject
'Again'? Do you usually get kidnapped?
[ He backs up a bit though so they can stand if they want. ]
no subject
[He is still sprawled half out of the bed, though he does try to get up when Kaito moves out of the way.
And... manages to kind of flop to the floor.
Ow.]
no subject
Oh, you meant that. I guess so. I wasn't expecting to get teleported somewhere else, but if they really do honour their agreement and grant my wish then I'm gonna consider this something like a new workplace.
[ Though he sounds blasé about it, he worries about what the people at home might think of his sudden disappearance. ]
